Valerie Hickey has a doctorate from Duke University and a Master’s from the University of Notre Dame.
She is currently the Manager of the Environment and Natural Resources for the Latin America and Caribbean Region of the World Bank. From her position she manages investment projects, technical assistance, policies support in all member countries of the Bank in the region; among the following sectors: biodiversity, pollution, restoration of landscapes, biological corridors, water conservation, best practices for hydropower development, watershed management, fisheries and oceans, waste management, among others.
She is also responsible of the team that supervises the application of Bank Environmental Safeguard Policies to over 400 projects in the region.
