She is a Forestry Engineer from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, with a Licentiate degree in Natural Resources Management from the Universidad Estatal a Distancia. She has a Master’s Degree in Quality, Environment, Occupational Helath and Social Responsibility from the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI) in Madrid, España.
She is an expert in Environmental Impact Assessment in Power Generation Plants and Transmission Networks. During 2003-2008, she was Environmental Manager of the power generation plants of the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad. SInce 2008 she represents ICE in the Plenary Commission of the National Technical Environmental Secretariat of Costa Rica. She currently leads the revision of the environmental standards of the country.
